Project Summary: The County of Santa Clara Planning and Development Department, with assistance from the Roads and Airports Department, is proposing a new private road Standard Detail (SD1A) that reduces right-of-way width requirements in urban areas when a road is intended for residential access (not carry though traffic) from 60 feet to 40 feet. SD1A would also reduce paved road width requirements by removing roadside parking. The purpose of the new SD1A is to provide flexibility to urban subdivisions and remove barriers from housing development. This project is partially funded through the Local Early Action Planning (LEAP) Grant Program awarded to the County on January 25, 2022.
This project will be on the agenda of the Housing, Land Use, Environment, and Transportation Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
