About Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division works to maintain safe living conditions, protect the environment, and uphold the quality of life in unincorporated Santa Clara County by enforcing the County Zoning Ordinance and the building and grading provisions of the County Ordinance Code.

Our goal is to work with County residents to ensure that violations do not occur or are corrected in a timely manner. Please see our list of common violations.

We are only able to investigate and enforce possible violations located in unincorporated Santa Clara County and cannot investigate and enforce violations located in incorporated cities within the County such as San José or Morgan Hill.
